About TruSens Air Purifiers and Usage

Let us help you answer some frequently asked questions about TruSens Air Purifiers

What size room does the air purifier cover

Z-1000:  We recommend using the TruSens Z-1000 in a small room, up to 23 square meters, or 250 square feet

Z-2000:  We recommend using the TruSens Z-2000 for medium rooms, up to 35 square meters, or 375 square feet

Z-3000:  We recommend using the TruSens Z-3000 for large rooms, up to 70 square meters, or 750 square feet

Does the unit come with filters included?  Do I have to buy a separate filter?

When you buy a TruSens Air Purifier, it already contains all the filters you need to use it immediately.  If there are any promotions or freebies included, these are IN ADDITION to whatever filters are already found in the air purifier.

Is the filter washable?

Is the filter washable?

How often do I need to replace the filter?

For standard HEPA filters (the ones similar to the ones installed when you first purchased the air purifier), the carbon layer is recommended for replacement every 3-4 months, the HEPA filter every 12-15 months, while the UV lamp only when the lamp is busted (should last around 2 to 3 years).

For specialty HEPA filters, the entire set is recommended to be replaced after 12-15 months of use.  The carbon filter may be replaced as needed, especially with heavy usage.

The Pre-filter (on the Z-2000 and Z-3000 standard HEPA filter) and on the specialty HEPA Pet filter, is recommended to be inspected at least once a month and washed as needed.  It is recommended you wash the prefilter every time you replace another filter (such as the carbon) or the UV lamp.

How loud is the TruSens air purifier?  Is there a quiet mode?

Z-1000:  The TruSens Z-1000 operates quietly, with levels ranging between 39 to 65 dB, depending on the fan speed setting.

Z-2000 / Z-3000:  The TruSens Z-2000 and Z-3000 has a whisper mode (extra silent fan setting), and can operates between 32 and 66 dB depending on fan speed setting.

The fan speed settings are manually selected by using the fan speed button.

Can you turn off the display lights at night?

Z-1000:  Lights on the Z-1000 are subtle and have been limited to only display the active fan speed and UV setting.

Z-2000 / Z-3000:  Yes there is a Dimmer / Night Mode that turns off display lights -- especially the Air Quality Indicator lights, while the air purifier continues to operate in whatever mode you set it.

Can you use multiple TruSens Air Purifiers in your home?

For best results, we recommend to have an air purifier in rooms that are occupied.  TruSens Air Purifiers are very easy to move around with its integrated carry handle, so you can easily move it to wherever it is needed.  However, it may be more convenient to have multiple air purifiers around your home.

About TruSens Filtration

Let us help you answer some frequently asked questions about TruSens filtration technology

Why is TruSens' HEPA filters by DuPont such a big deal?

It is very hard to see or observe how well your air purifier is doing.  Yes you can hear the fan spinning.  But it is hard to tell if it is REALLY cleaning the air.  Other air purifiers may make claims to the quality of their filtration ... but how can we be REALLY sure those claims are valid?  Or are they just blowing air around?

That is why TruSens partnered with DuPont for its filtration technology.  DuPont is one of the world's leaders in materials technology, whose products have been used in many life-saving and mission-critical applications, including n95 mask materials and PPE materials.  You CAN trust that TruSens' filtration products are of the highest quality and will do as they say it will.

When your health depends on it, you can put your trust in TruSens with DuPont filtration technology.

Does the TruSens Air Purifier filter out smoke or kitchen odors?

Smoke and Odors actually consist of small molecules floating in the air.

TruSens Air Purifiers use active carbon filters to reduce the presence of odors from the air (including the odorous gases caused by smoke, and includes kitchen and cooking odors).  The prefilter and the HEPA filter then captures smoke particles flowing through the TruSens Air Purifier.  Overall and with some time, this helps reduce any smells and odors caused by smoke or cooking activities.

Does the TruSens Air Purifier help with allergies?

TruSens air purifiers have been developed to reduce allergens present in the air.  The 360 degree DuPont filter allows air to be pulled in and filtered from all directions.  TruSens' proprietary PureDirect airflow distributes cleaner air efficiently throughout a room.

Does the TruSens Air Purifier help with asthma?

TruSens air purifiers have been developed and tested to reduce allergens present in indoor air.  Reducing allergens in the air may help those with sensitivies, but a medical professional should be consulted to determine how to best alleviate asthmatic symptoms.

What are VOCs?

VOCs are "volatile organic compounds" they are emitted as gasses from certain solids or liquids and can sometimes be harmful to health.  You can think of these as sometimes the "smells" from some materials like paint, new plastics, and so on.

What does the UV bulb do?  What are the specifications of the UV bulb?

TruSens air purifiers include a UVC-type ultraviolet light that kills microbes trapped on the filter surface.  The UV lamp has a peak output of 254 nanometers.  All three units allow you to control if and when you want to run UV.

Why is it necessary to change filters regularly?

As the filters do their job to capture airborne particles and pollutants, it gradually loses the ability to absorb more, and eventually will become inefficient or ineffective.  It is important to replace the filters (and wash the washable pre-filters) in your air purifier regularly to ensure maximum effectiveness.

About the SensorPod

Let us help you answer questions specifically about TruSens' unique technology, the SensorPod

Why makes SensorPod so special or revolutionary?

With most other air purifiers, it is very hard to tell if your air purifier is REALLY working.  Yes you can hear it working and you can feel some air coming out.  But is it REALLY cleaning the air?  And in case your air purifier does come with an air purifier reading -- it really only detects the quality of air AROUND the air purifier...  which because of distance should obviously be cleaner.

With TruSens' SensorPod technology, you can monitor the quality of the air across the room and away from the air purifier, even up to 15 meters away.  If the air there is "dirty", TruSens will recognize that -- and if placed in Auto Mode -- will increase its air purification speed and will not stop until the detected air is reduced to acceptable levels.  You now have the peace of mind that you can leave TruSens alone in the room and have the peace of mind that the air quality will remain clean because of TruSens!

Which models have the SensorPod?

Only the Z-2000 and the Z-3000 models have the SensorPod feature.

Will multiple SensorPods in a home or building interfere with one another?

TruSens air purifiers are factory paired with SensorPod and are designed not to interfere with one another.

Should the SensorPod and Air Purifier be in the same room?

Yes.  The SensorPod measures pollutants in a room and the can then report the room air quality.  If the Air Purifier is set to Auto-Mode, SensorPod can then work with the TruSens air purifier to automatically respond to the level of pollutants detected by increasing or decreasing fan / air purification speed.  Thus, for this system to work as intended, you should place the air purifier and SensorPod in the same room.  Also, please make sure that the air purifier is appropriate for your room size.

What do I do if SensorPod is not connecting with the air purifier?

First, please make sure that the SensorPod and the air purifier are in the same room.  Try moving the SensorPod closer to the air purifier first to make sure they can "talk" to each other.

If the TruSens Air Quality Indicator is NOT reporting any air quality -- and is just blank with the radio signal blinking, it could mean that the SensorPod and Air Purifier have somehow lost their connection.  In this rare occasion, you can override the factory pairing and pair them again.  Unplug any other SensorPods and Air Purifiers you own and follow the pairing instructions found in the Z-2000 or Z-3000 owner's manual.

Will the Air Purifier still work if I don't plug in the SensorPod?

Yes, TruSens Air Purifier will still work.  You can still control or set the air purifier to run "manually" meaning you have to manually set the air speed.

However, because you did not plug in the SensorPod, you lose the ability to "report" on the quality of the air, as well as lose the "auto-mode" feature that allows SensorPod to automatically control the air.

How far can you place the SensorPod from the air purifier unit?

Up to 15 meters (or 49 feet).  For optimal results, place the SensorPod on a tabletop or counter across the room, but within line of sight of the air purifier.

When should I use the "Auto Mode" and let SensorPod control air speed?  When should I use manual mode?

Under most circumstances, you can opt to leave your SensorPod to control TruSens with the Auto Mode.  However, if you are aware of significant pollutants or require extra higher or lower level of air purification (or are unwilling to deal with the TruSens Air Purifier potentially going on high and loud then maybe quiet) -- then you may choose to set the fan speed at a constant setting.

What kind of pollutants does SensorPod detect?

SensorPod detects pollutants as small as PM 2.5 this covers both visibly detectible and smaller dust particles.   Since odor and VOC molecules are sometimes larger than this, you might observe that TruSens also reacts to fumes, smoke and odors (including cooking smells, etc.) as well.
